Installed Carpet | Orange County, CA

Four things to ensure a great carpet installation, Orange County

Carpet is beautiful and a popular option. When taken care of properly, it can last for years. To get the most from this installation, there are some things to keep in mind, Orange County.

Tell your flooring pro where and how you plan the installation and about any extra durability needs

Every room has different priorities and needs, and your Orange County home is no different.

For instance, you probably would want something plush and fluffy for the bedroom, but that can be dangerous for stairs. It must be able to wrap securely around railings. A long pile, such as a plush and fluffy Frieze, would also not provide a solid foundation for the foot and you could slip and fall down those steps.

A low pile carpet may also be the best installation option for your home office or if anyone uses motility devices such as wheelchairs and walkers. When it’s a lower pile, wheels can move a lot easier.

Be sure to also say if you have pets or kids. You may need something with more durability and stain-resistance and some rugs are more appropriate for this need than others.

Get the right padding

Thicker isn’t necessarily better; in fact, if the padding is too thick it can damage some rugs. But you may want something with a heavier weight. Padding weights range from six to eight pounds, with the heavier traffic and commercial areas requiring a higher weight.

Other things to keep in mind:

●Don’t try to save money by installing it yourself, Orange County. Carpet installation can be tricky and requires special skills and tools. Also, you might end up spending more money in the long-term; for instance, installers can buy at wholesale prices, but you’ll pay retail.

If you do the installation yourself, the carpet most likely won’t be done according to manufacturer specifications, and that can void the warranty. That means any damages, even those not the fault of the Orange County homeowner, will not be covered.

●Get professional cleaning at least every 12 to 18 months. Vacuuming is great but it can only remove surface dirt. If you don’t scrub it out, any remaining soil and dirt will cut the fibers. Stains will also set, and the carpet will seem dull, dirty and matted.

Most of all, manufacturer warranties often require this.
