Three Common Carpet Cleaning Challenges in Orange County and How to Overcome Them

Everyone loves the warmth and plush comfort that comes with carpet, but nobody likes having to deal with the drawback of having it: Stains. So, let's talk carpeting cleaning, Orange County!

Orange County carpets can take a real beating, so it's important to know a few handy tricks that the pros use to make sure they stay in top condition for as long as possible, to protect your valuable flooring investment.

So, in an effort to help our customers extend the life of their carpets, and keep them from having to prematurely call in an Orange County carpet cleaning company, Bixby Plaza Carpets And Flooring had our carpet experts throw together this quick guide. It will help you remove some of the trickier stains that often occur in the home.

Blood

Blood is easily one of the most feared stains out there when it comes to your carpets. Luckily, it's actually not that hard to properly remove a blood stain, if you know what you're doing!

The first thing you need to know is that you need to act quickly. The longer the stain sits, the more difficulty you will have trying to remove it. Start by making a solution of 2 tsp. of grease-fighting dish soap and cold water, in a spray bottle. Gently mist the stain, using as little water as possible, to loosen it. Then transfer the stain to a paper or cloth towel, by gently blotting it until as much of the blood is removed as possible. Remember, blot, don't scrub, to avoid driving the stain deeper into the carpet.

With blood, it might take a few passes to completely lift the stain. Patience and perseverance are key! Remember to be sure that you have dried the spot as thoroughly as possible, to avoid mold and mildew problems with your carpet.

Artificially Colored Kid's Drinks

Many kid's beverages contain strong dyes that can be a real nightmare for your carpets. If your kids like the sort of drinks that come in little colorful packets and get mixed with sugar, you know exactly what we're talking about!

Much like blood, reaction time is key with these sorts of spills. As soon as you are aware of the stain, mix 1/4 cup of white vinegar, 1 tbsp. of grease-fighting dish soap, and water in a spray bottle. Then follow the same procedure described above for dealing with blood stains.

Again, only use enough water to loosen the stain, and be sure that you have completely dried the spot to avoid damage to your carpets.

Coffee Stains

Nothing looks quite as bad on a carpet as an old coffee stain. Dingy, brown and unappealing, these stains can be a real pain if you don't take care of them quickly.

Start by gently blotting up as much of the coffee as possible. Avoid spreading the stain during this part of the process. After that, you can use the same vinegar/soap solution and removal method described above for colorful kid's drinks to remove the coffee stain. Be sure to follow the same precautions.
